Popped Up Plans for Pop-Up Stores in Rotterdam!

POP!

[For this article, ILB goes BLACK!]

ILB comes places. Although it might seem that we only hang out in Rotterdam. (Okay, that is often the case, so we rely on you guys all around the world for input from there. Always open for your input. Just a little intermezzo.) Sometimes ILB goes together to events as a team, sometime they split up. And so while Robin and Sanne were chilling in Marrakech, bird Leanne attended the second Young Professionals Rotterdam Event.

Say where? ROTTERDAM!

ILB presents to you: a review of the second Young Professionals Rotterdam Event hosted by Rotterdam Central District on 13 February 2012 @ De Dépendance Schieblock – Rotterdam.

Obviously - and again -, not everyone showing up was informed to bring a business card to the second YPR meet up. Mmm, or wait, when you think of a networking event, isn’t that self-explanatory? Result: not everyone carried a name tag (because of the efficient yet creative “get-a-pin-and-put-your-business-card-on-your-jacket”-construction).  Yes, okay, I know, I’ve tried to make my point in my first review (“Let the battle begin?!) and doing it again … Not the main point here. On to it:

Second meet up.

+ Successes repeated: young professionals, free drinks, free food, inspiring key note speakers, lot’s of room for sharing ideas.

++ Improvements implemented: Low key location, a REAL native speaker for the international touch, and: lot’s of interactivity. Great to see how the ideas shared during the first event were immediately implemented during the second meeting.  Yes, speak up! Immediate results guaranteed.

The American Nederlander ComedyNewsMan Greg Shapiro (@gregoryshapiro) announced the assignment for the interactive part of the night:

What business can we begin in the pop-up stores during the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (April – August 2012) to make the “Stationskwartier” area more attractive and exciting?

After the successful story of Adriaan Buyserd’s Cravatta Pelliano, e.g. 7 teams of the more than the 135 registered bubbly participants got the chance to work on their winning project for a pop up store. These interactive break ups in subgroups resulted in fresh ideas and synergetic plans: high tea parties, animal farms - to get rid of your kid-, outdoor hotels on roof tops and biking for free and fresh coffee, toned muscles and new friends or lovers, were some of the plans that popped up during the sauerkraut dish. Thank you for this, Mess (yes that was a pun)! In only half an hour!

Improvised presentations followed on stage. Flips, macbooks, and hand gestures were popular. Not all profound business plans, but potential starts of buzzy business to cover the pop-up area.

So now the question is:

What are the actions you’re going to take to carry out your Pop-Up plan?

So please young professionials, we would love to hear your thoughts on this and looking forward to learning your ideas! You can share it on Twitter:  #YPR
